A leading pharmaceutical manufacturer experiencing substantial growth acquired a new building near its current warehouse and distribution facility. The company selected Distribution Design to evaluate its warehousing needs for components for manufacturing and for finished goods distribution. The various products require storage in three different temperature environments.
Distribution Design provided substantial analytical support and recommended nearly 70 prioritized, operational improvements for the warehousing and distribution operations. The recommendations defined the best use of the existing and new facilities in suppport of the business, improved WMS functionality, and a layout of the new distribution center. The company is implementing the recommendations, and the estimated productivity improvement is about 30%.
